The comX communication module is a universal solution for equipping devices with master or slave functionalities. It is designed for integration into automation devices such as robot controllers, programmable logic controllers or drives in order to provide them with a network interface. All components required for operation are already integrated on the plug-in module. It performs all communication tasks autonomously on the module, regardless of the target platform processor.
In addition to the traditional fieldbus, comX supports all leading Real-Time Ethernet protocols as master or slave and meets all network-specific requirements in a single module. You can switch protocols quickly and reliably by loading appropriate firmware and software licenses, even for master applications. Process data is exchanged by means of a dual-port memory which is accessed by either an 8-/16-bit bus interface or a fast 50 MHz SPI interface. All modules are pin-compatible and have an identical software interface.
The evaluation board COMXEB allows the commissioning and testing of comX modules. With an evaluation board, you can connect a comX module to a PC or network via a host interface or diagnostic interface. The COMXEB eases commissioning as you can configure the comX, load firmware into it, perform function tests, and diagnosis. For this purpose, it provides all necessary controls, displays, and interfaces.
Moreover, you can use the evaluation board with a mounted comX module to develop the application program on a PC and to test it via the host interface. This chapter explains the basic function and describes the controls, displays, and interfaces of the evaluation board COMXEB.
